Xue Qunji was born on November 28, 1942 in Yinan County, Shandong Province.He is a specialist in materials chemistry and was elected academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 1997.
Professor Xue graduated from Shandong University in 1965 and received his master's degree from Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1967.Hewas a visiting scholar at the University of Michigan from 1980 to 1982,engaged infailure of lubrication research.He is now theDirector of the Academic Committee ofLanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics,theDirector of the Academic Committee of the State Key Laboratory of SolidLubrication, theExecutive Director of The Chinese Chemical Society, theDirector of the Society for Mechanical Engineering,theDirector of the Society for Space Science,theDirector of the Society for Materials Research, theVice President of International Friction Institute, member of THE ACS and STLEand he is one of the academic leaders in the field ofMaterialChemistry andTribochemistry in China and has a high reputation at home and abroad.
Professor Xue has rich accumulation and high academic level in polymer tribology, ceramic wear and lubrication, nanomaterials and tribology, additive tribology and the design and preparation of new materials.Professor Xue has participated in or presided over more than 30 national key projects, won the national third prize and 23 provincial and ministerial awards, published more than 370 research papers, 3 books, and authorized 19 patents.Hehas been rewardednational advanced worker, model worker in Gansu Province, young and middle-aged expert with outstanding national contributions, and excellent tutor for postgraduates of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.So far, he has trained 45 doctors and 9 masters.In 1994, he was invited to present a conference on “tribochemistry of ceramic materials” at the prestigious (United States) Galden Conference.In August 2001, as a national defense science and technology expert, he was received by General Secretary Jiang and other state leaders.In 2002, he won theHe Liang& He LiScience and Technology Progress Award.
